Juliet’s Story

I’m in the sixth chapter of my career. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that careers aren’t linear – especially by midlife. Mine has been a mix of entrepreneurship, pivots, fresh starts, triumphs, and tough knocks. Retirement? Not in my vocabulary.
We’re living longer, working differently, and blending employment with entrepreneurship. That’s not a problem to solve – it’s something to celebrate.
Chapter 1: Fast-Tracked & Fed Up
I started as a Chartered Surveyor in retail property – rising fast, earning well, but drowning in long hours, sexism, and presenteeism. Sitting in my plush office by Selfridges, in London, I thought: There has to be more to life than this.
Chapter 2: Cancer, Clarity & Coaching
In my early thirties cancer forced me to pause. One day a week working from home was life-changing: no commute, no office politics, more freedom. I launched my own consultancy and thrived financially, but I craved meaning, family, and flexibility. So, I invested in an executive coach, and through that process I decided to retrain as a coach myself.
Chapter 3: Burnout & Breakthroughs
As an executive coach, I saw that personal change wasn’t enough – workplace culture had to evolve too. That led me to join Shirlaws, a business coaching company with brilliant methodology and business processes. But balancing coaching, property, two young children, and a husband in a war zone pushed me to burnout. Through recovery came clarity: women like me wanted work with purpose, autonomy, and freedom.
Chapter 4: Building 2to3days & Bad News
In 2015, I founded 2to3days, the UK’s first female-focused flexible work marketplace. With zero tech or recruitment experience, I built it into an award-winning platform placing over 1,000 women into great flexible roles. Then came the blows: COVID halted hiring, and later my husband’s terminal cancer diagnosis reshaped everything. I fought to keep the business alive while holding my family together. By 2023, I knew it was time to let go. It broke my heart, but it was the right call.

Chapter 5: The Power of the Pause
2024 became my year of stopping. No deadlines. No business plans. Just reflection – uncomfortable but essential. Who was I without constant work? What did I really want?
The answer: something that gave me energy, not took it. Something that leveraged all my experience and reignited my purpose. Many conversations later, I realised I wasn’t alone. So many midlife professionals were craving the same things: purpose, flexibility, growth, and the support to make it happen. Midlife Mojo was born.
Chapter 6: Midlife Mojo
Now, I’m channelling everything I’ve learned into Midlife Mojo. My mission? To help midlife professionals build success careers and businesses filled with ambition and joy.
